The Met Office has issued a weather warning for tonight and the next few days for a storm which is likely to cause flooding in many parts of the UK.  Heavy rain is predicted tonight in the Oxfordshire area so any Woodstock residents with concerns about the risk of flooding to their property should contact Oxfordshire County Council for details of their Flood Toolkit and to obtain sand bags (see Oxfordshire Flood Toolkit on  This website gives information about things a homeowner can do to try and prevent flooding and also gives information about how to sign up to get flood warnings from the Environment Agency.

To report flooding relating to a highway such as blocked ditches, blocked drains or flooding on a road call Oxfordshire County Council Floodline or visit the Fix My Street website.

Oxfordshire Highways also provide emergency response to flooding by closing roads, setting up diversions, pumping flooded highways, and providing sand bags to properties and communities threatened by flooded highways where resources permit.

Woodstock Lawn Cemetery Extension

Woodstock Town Council has been granted planning permission to extend the Lawn Cemetery in Green Lane and are now in a position to progress this project.

The Council will be applying to the Public Works Loan Board to borrow the money to complete the associated work but this will not result in the tax precept being increased for the purpose of the loan repayments.

As it is essential to have adequate burial and cremation facilities within the town, it is hoped that residents will be supportive of this project proceeding.
