Town Centre Improvements

Members of the public and visitors to the town will see that work has commenced on refurbishing the seats in the Market Square this week. Woodstock Town Council has received money from West Oxfordshire District Council as part of the government Welcome Back Fund to undertake the improvements which will also be used to re-stain the seats on Park Street outside St Mary Magdalene Church.

Other funding has been used to reprint the Woodstock Historic Wall Plaques leaflet and Wake Up to Woodstock’s media campaign “Hello Spring, Hello Woodstock” which runs from March 26 -31. All of the initiatives are aimed at encouraging local people and visitors back to the town as part of COVID recovery plans.

Mayor of Woodstock, Councillor Mathew Parkinson said “It is encouraging to see government funding being used to make the town more attractive as people return to shops, restaurants & pubs and local attractions. Spring is a time when the visitor economy wakens up, so the improvements are most welcome”.
